The king, called “Ahmad Shah Baba” (our father Ahmad Shah) by his people, was an exceptional general and just ruler. Still, he was very worried and needed to find someone with the right qualities to help him - but how? This fascinating Afghan legend is retold here for children by Afghan storyteller and educator Palwasha Bazger Salam and is beautifully illustrated by San Francisco Bay Area-based artist Natasha Delmar. This educational story is intended, among other things, to encourage young readers to think about and discuss what qualities can lead to a useful and happy life. The pages accompanying the story include a brief biography of Ahmad Shah, a map of the Durrani Empire, and suggested topics for discussion.
